An infinity edge, also called a vanishing edge, has one wall built slightly lower than the water level. Water spills over that wall into a catch basin, then returns to the pool through the filtration system.
From the right angle the water appears to merge with whatever is beyond it.

- A catch basin, sized to hold the water in transit plus the displacement of swimmers entering
- A second pump dedicated to returning water from the basin
- A level control system with an auto top-up feed

The basin has to absorb that without overflowing. When the pump stops, water in transit drains back to the basin, and the basin has to hold that too without flooding.
Where it works
The effect needs something beyond the edge for the water to merge with. A view over a golf course, a lagoon or the sea.
Higher than a conventional pool. The edge pump runs whenever you want the effect, evaporation is greater because water is constantly moving over a thin edge, and in Dubai summer that means noticeable water loss.
