All of these produce the same active sanitiser in the water. They differ in what else they add along with it.
Trichlor tablets
Slow dissolving pucks in a floating dispenser or an inline feeder.
The catch: trichlor is stabilised, meaning each tablet adds cyanuric acid. That is useful up to a point and a problem beyond it.
Liquid chlorine, sodium hypochlorite
Fast acting, no stabiliser added, no calcium added. Raises pH, so acid dosing is needed alongside. Loses strength in storage, especially in Dubai heat, so buy in smaller quantities more often.
Calcium hypochlorite granular
Strong and stable in storage. Adds calcium hardness with every dose, which matters in a pool that already has hard fill water.
Salt chlorination
Salt in the water, a cell that converts chloride to chlorine by electrolysis. Water feels softer on the skin. The chlorine produced is the same as any other source, so the idea that a salt pool is chlorine free is wrong.
For most Dubai villa pools, salt chlorination with a liquid chlorine backup for shock treatment. For building pools with high bather load, automatic liquid dosing with continuous monitoring.
What matters in Dubai
Dubai heat, dust and strong sunlight change pool water quickly. Swimming pool maintenance needs regular testing and a clean circulation system. Chemical treatment works properly only when the pump and filter are doing their part.
What to check before work starts
The existing pool or room should be inspected as a complete system. Visible damage may sit beside a separate problem in the pipework, controls, waterproofing or ventilation. A written scope should identify the affected parts and state which surrounding surfaces need protection or opening.
The maintenance approach should match the pool finish and the installed equipment. Salt systems, automatic dosing and standard chlorination have different service needs, while shaded pools behave differently from exposed pools.
